Video on Demand (VOD) or Audio Video on Demand (AVOD) are systems which allow users to select and watch/listen to video or audio content on demand. IPTV technology is often used to bring video on demand to televisions and personal computers[1] Television VOD systems either stream content through a set-top box, a computer or other device, allowing viewing in real time, or download it to a device such as a computer, digital video recorder (also called a personal video recorder) or portable media player for viewing at any time. The majority of cable- and telco-based television providers offer both VOD streaming, including pay-per-view and free content, whereby a user buys or selects a movie or television program and it begins to play on the television set almost instantaneously, or downloading to a DVR rented from the provider, or downloaded onto a pc, for viewing in the future. Internet television, using the Internet, is an increasingly popular form of video on demand.
NOWTILUS
Nowtilusis a network of online stores specialized in selling and renting of movies, developed for a company from Germany. Online stores are supported by a network of servers, by loading balancing systems that ensure an optimal response time for clients.
Architecture:The online stores are built on . NET 3.5 platform, using IIS and MS SQL databases. In the back there are special sites for management and stand-alone applications for back-end.

VideoFutur is a platform specialized in renting movies with a database of over 30.000 of titles.
Movies can be rented in various formats: DVD / BluRay sent by mail (online), VOD format (online) and DVDs / BluRays that can be rented from offline retail network. The system of partnerships of the platform supports a wide variety of customization based on partner requirements. These adaptations have been made for partners as: Fnac, Neuf, Carrefour, M6, SFR, Toshiba, Philips, Archos, DARTY, and so. The complex back-end system of the platform helps at increasing the customer satisfaction.

This is a distributed multiplatform architecture with three levels, built on J2EE using JBoss application server and MySQL database. For the back-end system are used some standalone Java applications (batches).

Leading Network Infrastructure Provider
The client is a provider of network infrastructure for telephony, Internet and television, multimedia solutions and telecom services. Regarding multimedia solutions, recently the ISP began to provide its customers a IPTV / VoD portal including support for high-resolution digital TV with scalability up to hundreds of thousands of users.
The users run the portal on the equipment like Set-Top-Box, offering a up-to-date and friendly interface.
